I know many people that use an errand to the bank just to get out of the office. They just want to get away. Put on the CD and relax for a minute. Not a bad idea

I know many people that use an errand to the bank just to get out of the office.  They just want to get away.  Put on the CD and relax for a minute.  Not a bad idea.  I know others that learn from teaching CD’s and still others that learn another language while they drive.  I accumulate phone calls I need to return and then, because I know I will be in the car for 45 minutes, make my calls then.  If someone calls me and I know it will take 10 minutes to discuss something with them I purposely ask if I can call them back when I am in the car.  If I don’t do this then I never get anything done in the office.  The downside is that it is tough to set appointments or to-do’s that come out of phone conversations unless you have an open pad and pen in the seat next to you.  When I don’t, I just ask the person to email me a short note on what we decided.  I save at least 30 minutes to an hour out of my day doing this.  I write the names and numbers of calls I need to make on a yellow sticky and put it on the steering wheel when I leave.  It helps me get through all of them before I get to my destination.  Be sure to talk on your phone hands free!  If you need time to relax then leave the office 45 minutes earlier and make your calls in your car, arrive at home earlier and fall apart then, when going to sleep won’t kill you!
